Housing project – Building a home for family of 6

Please help us raise money for a brand new house for the Sanchez family. Alvero and his wife Suzanna have 4 adorable children and are currently living in appalling conditions. Their current house is one room with 3 beds, no bathroom and dirt floors. There is no running water apart from when it rains – the roof leaks like crazy.

Both parents work hard but their wages are mimimal - Alvero works in maintainence in a small hotel and Suzanne is a cleaner.

With his eldest daughter being 13 years old, Alvero has a dream to build his family a new house where his kids can have their own bed and be safe and dry. During the rainy season here in Nicaragua it can rain almost non-stop for a month.

He humbly asked me if I could help him raise the money for a new house. I ask him to come back to me with plans and a breakdown of the cost.

When I met him the next week to review the plan, I was floored to discover the total cost for a 3 bedroom house with a kitchen, bathroom, living area, running water was US$7 790. His cousin, who is a builder has offered to build it for him, therefore this is the raw costs of the materials.

I told him I could not make any promises but that I would try and help him by asking friends to contribute.

This family is no different from ours or yours,  in the way we love our children and want to provide them with the fundamental needs.

If you have the means and the desire to help this family, any contribution will make a difference.

    Hi Julie
I am a friend of your mother, here in Buderim, OZ. We play bridge together and when she told me what you are trying to do for this Nicaraguan family I was deeply moved so I have sent a small donation and hope that others will do the same. Do let us know how the project goes, I would love to see a photo and some followup when the home is completed.
    Sincerely
    Susie

    Hi Julie

I was wondering how much you have raised of the amount you need?
